A dignified event was organized in Guna to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons, with a special emphasis on honoring and caring for senior citizens. Ananddham Old Age Home, run by Seva Bharti, was the focal point of this grand celebration, which took place under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'. Approximately 300 dignitaries, officials, and volunteers attended, including local MLA Pannalal Shakya, District Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal, and Seva Bharti President Narvada Shankar Bhargav. The event aimed to provide a platform to express respect towards the society's elder members and acknowledge their invaluable services.
Warm Welcome and Inspiring Service
The ceremony commenced with District Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal warmly welcoming the senior citizens residing at the old age home. He personally honored each elder by presenting them with a shawl and a garland, a gesture symbolizing deep reverence and respect. Demonstrating a unique and inspiring example of service, Collector Kanyal personally served meals to the elderly residents, a profound act that resonated with the humanitarian spirit among all attendees.
Community Commitment to Cleanliness
During the occasion, all citizens present collectively pledged to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of Guna city, showcasing the hallmark of a responsible civil society. This collective resolve underscored a shared commitment to the well-being and aesthetic of their community.
Dedicated Health Camp and Medication Support
A significant component of the event was the successful organization of a free health camp, specifically tailored to the health needs of the elderly. Around 250 senior citizens underwent comprehensive health check-ups. A dedicated team of physicians provided consultations on general health, management of chronic conditions, and necessary medications. It was identified that approximately 80 elderly individuals required regular medication. All 80 individuals were provided with free medicines, addressing their health requirements and demonstrating the administration and Seva Bharti's unwavering commitment to the welfare and healthcare access of the elderly.
Honoring Contributions and Sharing Memories
In a special recognition ceremony, 60 senior citizens were honored for their lifetime contributions and services to society. They were presented with shawls, coconuts (Shriphal), and useful bedsheets as tokens of gratitude. Alongside the felicitation, an emotional and inspiring session allowed attendees and the elderly themselves to share valuable life experiences, significant memories, and recollections from different stages of life, fostering intergenerational dialogue and providing wisdom and inspiration.
Conclusion and Community Bonding
The event concluded with a shared, delicious meal for all attendees, fostering a pleasant and harmonious atmosphere. The dignified gathering was also graced by the city's legal advisor, a dedicated team of doctors, and media representatives, whose support and presence amplified the event's significance.
