Gonzalo García hat-trick powers Real Madrid past Betis as title chase stays alive

Real Madrid delivered a statement performance in La Liga on Sunday, with Gonzalo García scoring a hat-trick in a commanding 5–1 victory over Real Betis, ensuring the champions remain firmly in pursuit of leaders Barcelona.

With Kylian Mbappé sidelined by a knee sprain, head coach Xabi Alonso turned to the 21-year-old academy striker and was rewarded with a breakout display that electrified the Santiago Bernabéu.

García seizes his moment

García opened the scoring after 20 minutes, rising to meet Rodrygo’s free-kick with a perfectly judged looping header. Betis responded with energy but failed to seriously test Thibaut Courtois before the break.
