Call for Recognition of Sardar Patel's Contributions
The Congress Backward Classes Department in Gonda submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate on Friday, urging that a major city junction be named after the freedom fighter and 'architect of Akhand Bharat', Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The delegation also requested the installation of his statue at the chosen junction, aiming to permanently memorialize his invaluable contributions to the nation. The five-member team emphasized that Sardar Patel played a crucial role in maintaining India's unity and integrity, and expressing gratitude for this service is a paramount duty of society.
Support and Advocacy for the Proposal
Present during the submission of the memorandum were key figures including Ajay Kumar Rastogi, State Secretary of the Congress OBC Wing; Hariram Verma of Seva Dal; Baby Mishra, Chief Organizer of Mahila Seva Dal; and District President Asha Mishra, along with several other office bearers and workers.
District President of RTI Praduman Shukla, District President of Seva Dal Chhotelal, and Block President of Rupaidih Harishchandra Srivastava also lent their support to this initiative. All members unanimously requested the administration to seriously consider this demand and take immediate action.

Following the submission of the memorandum at the District Magistrate's office, discussions regarding the renaming of the junction and the installation of a statue in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel have gained traction at the local level. This demand underscores the historical significance of Sardar Patel as a symbol of national unity and integrity.
