The district of Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, has been severely impacted by three days of continuous torrential rain and gale-force winds. Identified as the 'Arnab Storm,' this seasonal crisis has led to numerous trees falling on main and rural roads across almost all development blocks, completely obstructing movement.

Authorities are facing significant challenges in clearing fallen trees to restore traffic flow. While a brief respite was experienced on Sunday morning with reduced rainfall and wind speeds, the devastation remains evident. The prolonged adverse weather, lasting approximately 65 to 70 hours, has resulted in a complete suspension of electricity supply throughout the district.

Widespread Power Outages Affect Millions

The lack of electricity in the district headquarters, as well as other urban and rural areas, is affecting millions of residents. This has also severely impacted mobile networks and other essential services, leaving people struggling for basic amenities.

Officials from the electricity department stated that all personnel are working around the clock to restore supply and assured that power would be reinstated soon. The administration is prioritizing the assessment of crop damage to provide relief to farmers.

Farmers Face Agricultural Calamity

Farmers have borne the brunt of the storm's fury, with thousands of acres of paddy and sugarcane crops flattened and ruined in the fields.
