Centenary Celebrations Foster Patriotism and Historical Reflection

On the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Gonda district hosted various events on Friday, focusing on service and historical achievements. These celebrations inspired the new generation with values of truth, non-violence, and service, fostering a unique national spirit.

This year's Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti witnessed dual historical narratives: the departure of relatives of 'kar sevaks' from the Ram Mandir movement for Ayodhya, and a young runner completing a marathon, showcasing extraordinary endurance and patriotism. These events injected enthusiasm and inspiration across the district, reflecting dedication to the ideals of Gandhi-Shastri.

Kar Sevak Kin Embark on Pilgrimage to Ayodhya

Family members of 'kar sevaks' from the Ram Mandir movement and workers from the Sangh Parivar enthusiastically departed for Ayodhya to participate in a centenary celebration at Ayodhya's Kar Sevak Puram. This event commemorates the memory of the late Ashok Singhal, a guiding force behind the movement.

The contingent, traveling by buses and private vehicles, included a large number of 'kar sevaks' relatives, reminiscing about their loved ones' contributions to the historic movement. The presence of Vishva Hindu Parishad's central vice-president Champat Rai Bansal and Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Surya Pratap Shahi was anticipated, adding significance to the ceremony. This journey symbolizes the sacrifice and dedication of the 'kar sevaks', which the nation will always remember.

Young Runner Achieves Remarkable Feat

On Gandhi Jayanti, Anamika Mishra, a seven-year-old student from Itiyathok block, brought pride to the district by demonstrating exceptional endurance and patriotism. She completed a 30-kilometer marathon from Primary School Bhikampurwa to Gandhi Park, holding the tricolor, in just 3 hours and 40 minutes.

This incredible achievement for a child of her age was lauded by Ashok Kumar Shukla, DIG of Devipatan Range, who honored her for her courage and dedication. Her father, Manoj Kumar Mishra, shared that Anamika had been training rigorously for this marathon for four years, steadily improving her stamina and mental fortitude, enabling her to achieve this extraordinary goal.

Promoting Hygiene and Health Awareness

To raise public awareness about cleanliness, the Jainus Initiative organization conducted a special program at New Public City Montessori School. This initiative carries forward the values of Gandhi ji's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.

The organization's founder, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Srivastava, educated children on the importance of personal hygiene and distributed free hygiene kits. He emphasized that adopting good hygiene habits from childhood can prevent serious illnesses. The kits included soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other essential items. Chief Guest Dr. R.S. Mishra praised the initiative, calling it a vital step for society.

Tributes to Great Leaders and Service Activities

The Shri Chitragupt Sabha paid tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri by garlanding his statue at Shastri Chowk, dedicating the event to his simple and disciplined life. Sabha president Arvind Srivastava 'Gappu Bhaiya' urged adherence to Shastri ji's ideals of simple living and national service.

Advocates Avani Ranjan and Maharaj Srivastava also highlighted Shastri ji's integrity and dedication, which remain an inspiration for Indian politics. Additionally, under the district administration's guidance, a special program was held at the Leprosy Service Center, reflecting Gandhi ji's spirit of service and empathy towards the underprivileged.

Officials from the Health and District Supply departments distributed lunch packets and fruits to leprosy patients and differently-abled individuals. A seminar held during the event discussed the life philosophies of great personalities, encouraging attendees to learn from leaders like Gandhi and Shastri, as well as other great figures.
