Patwari Suspended for Land Record Manipulation

Vikas Cameor, Sub-Divisional Officer Revenue, Gohad, has suspended Sandeep Jain, the former Patwari of Gohad, with immediate effect. This action stems from serious allegations of misuse of official duties and tampering with land records.

Complaint Filed Regarding Land Survey Discrepancies

According to information received, complainant Santobai widow of Balaram and Mataprasad, residents of Gwalior, submitted a complaint application to the Commissioner, Chambal Division, Morena. The complaint highlighted a discrepancy in land survey numbers located in the town area of Gohad.

Specifically, land survey numbers 3704, 3705, 3706, 3707, 3708, 3752/1, 3753, with a total area of 8.819 hectares, were subject to the complaint. The applicants stated their share was 0.401 hectares and that they are the landowners and occupants, with their names recorded as landowners from 2020-21 to 2023-24.

Serious Discrepancy Found in Land Records

The complaint further alleged that in the year 2024-25, without any order from a competent authority, the name of Ramkumar son of Punjab Singh Gurjar of Gohad was entered for a portion of land survey number 3704, measuring 1.0030 hectares, representing a 4010/88190 share. This significant discrepancy led to action against the then Patwari, Sandeep Jain.

Patwari Fails to Provide Satisfactory Explanation

SDM Cameor stated that in connection with the complaint, Sandeep Jain, who was the Patwari of Gohad town at the time, was issued a show-cause notice on November 21, 2025. The Patwari did not submit a response within the stipulated timeframe. Subsequently, a reminder letter was sent on July 15, 2026, and a reply was received on July 30. However, the explanation provided by the Patwari was found to be unsatisfactory.

Suspension and Headquarter Order

According to SDM Cameor, the misuse of official duties by former Patwari Sandeep Jain is evident, and the tampering with land records indicates serious negligence. Exercising the powers vested under Rule 9(1) of the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966, Sandeep Jain, who is now posted as Patwari in village Chhimka, has been suspended with immediate effect.

During the suspension period, Sandeep Jain's headquarters have been fixed at the Tehsil Office, Mau. He will not be permitted to leave his headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority. This action has sent ripples through the administrative department.
