Chambal Region Witnesses Industrial Transformation with Godrej's New Unit

A new chapter has unfolded in the industrial landscape of Madhya Pradesh's Chambal region. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the fourth new integrated industrial (manufacturing) unit of Godrej Consumer Products Private Limited in the Malhanpur Industrial Area of Bhind district.

Established with an additional investment of approximately ₹450 crore, this unit is a significant symbol of the changing investment scenario in the Gwalior-Chambal region. It strongly reinforces the slogan 'Made in MP' and 'Faith in MP', with expectations of creating over 600 direct employment opportunities.

Madhya Pradesh: A Growing Hub for Investors

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh now resides in the hearts of industrialists and investors from across the country and the globe. He highlighted the transformation of the Chambal land, once known for its ravines, into a region rapidly forging a new industrial identity.

Describing Godrej Group's establishment of its first unit in Malhanpur nearly three decades ago as an excellent example of investing in potential, the Chief Minister noted that this ₹450 crore investment signifies growing industrial confidence in the state. Malhanpur is evolving into a center for industrial development in Gwalior-Chambal, fostering industries ranging from toys to tires.

Madhya Pradesh Leads Industrial Progress with New Investments

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav shared data indicating that Madhya Pradesh has become the fastest-growing state in industrial progress, boasting the lowest unemployment rate in the country. He mentioned that over 30 percent of the investment proposals worth ₹30.77 lakh crore received at the Global Investors Summit (GIS-25) have been realized, with industrial units valued at approximately ₹10 lakh crore now taking shape.

The state's exports, amounting to ₹76,000 crore worth of products, are a testament to its growing production capacity. The Chief Minister extended an invitation to industrialists and investors for the upcoming Global Investors Summit in Bhopal in January 2027.

He also emphasized that this is the third major industrial unit inaugurated in the Gwalior-Chambal region in the last two months. Previously, a cement plant with an investment of approximately ₹1500 crore in Guna and a defense sector manufacturing plant in Shivpuri were launched. This new Godrej unit is now Asia's largest integrated soap manufacturing factory, capable of producing 4000 soap bars per minute.

Godrej's 35-Year Strong Partnership with Madhya Pradesh

Ms. Nisaba Godrej, Executive Chairperson of the Godrej Group, described the inauguration of their fourth unit in Malhanpur as a testament to 35 years of a strong partnership between Godrej and Madhya Pradesh. Recalling the establishment of their first unit in 1991, she stated that a total investment of ₹850 crore has been made to date, producing items such as soaps, hair colors, and household insecticides.

With the full operationalization of this fourth unit, a turnover of ₹3,800 crore is projected. Ms. Nisaba Godrej commended the Madhya Pradesh government's steps to enable women to work night shifts and ensure their safety, which has expanded job and leadership opportunities for women.

She further mentioned that Godrej aims to collaborate with the state government in the 'Malaria-Free India Campaign' by 2030. Mr. Asif Malbari, MD & CEO of Godrej Consumer Products Limited, described the state-of-the-art plant as built with automation and digitization, praising Chief Minister Dr. Yadav's progressive vision and commitment to 'Ease of Doing Business'. He referred to Malhanpur as the 'heart of manufacturing' for Godrej.

Currently employing 2200 staff, the workforce is expected to grow to 2800. With this new expansion, the Malhanpur plant will position Godrej as the largest soap manufacturer across the entire Asian continent.

Chambal's Evolving Landscape, New Employment Opportunities

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the Chambal region, once considered underdeveloped, is now rapidly advancing in industrial investment. He also mentioned the groundbreaking ceremony for a hydrogen plant in Bhind district and the development of new industrial parks in the Gwalior-Chambal division, which will create employment opportunities for local residents.

Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development and Labour, highlighted the employment opportunities for local people resulting from Godrej's expansion. The event was attended by Shri Rakesh Shukla, Minister for New and Renewable Energy, various MLAs, the District Panchayat President, the Chairman of Apex Bank, the BJP District President, officials from the Godrej Group, and members of the press.

This investment will further solidify Madhya Pradesh's position on the industrial map and pave the way for economic prosperity in the region.
