Ancestral Ritual Performed for Peace at Guna Old Age Home

On the occasion of Sarvapitri Moksha Amavasya, the Gayatri Parivar Youth Wing organized a special collective Tarpana and Pindadan ceremony for the peace of departed ancestors at the old age home in Guna. The organization has been diligently carrying out this service for the past seventeen years.

This year, as part of the ritual, 32 elderly residents of the ashram performed the sacred rites with Vedic chants for the peace of their ancestors. The event commenced with the young members of the Gayatri Parivar warmly welcoming all the elderly mothers and brothers residing at the ashram by applying tilak to their foreheads.

Seventeen Years of Tradition

A total of 32 family members enthusiastically participated in this religious and service-oriented event, including six elderly women and twenty-six elderly men. The residents of the ashram devoutly completed the Tarpana and Pindadan rituals amidst Vedic chanting.

Surendra Prajapati, the district coordinator for Gayatri Parivar, and Sunil Sen, the district coordinator for the Youth Wing, stated that the organization is conducting this collective Tarpana ritual on the final day of Sarvapitri Amavasya, as it has done annually. This tradition has been uninterrupted for the past seventeen years.

Preserving Cultural Traditions

This ritual provides an opportunity for the elderly residents of the ashram to remember their ancestors and offer them peace. Several members of the Gayatri Parivar were present for this special occasion, including Guman Singh Kushwah, Ram Sharma, Ravi Kumar Kushwah, Rahul Sen, Jitendra Sharma, Shyam Srivastava, Ramnath Mehra, Virendra Goswami, Prakhar Prajapati, Nikhil Goswami, and Shreshth Sen.

All participants earned merit by performing Tarpana for their ancestors according to the prescribed rituals. This unique initiative by the organization not only expresses respect for the elderly but also serves as a meaningful step towards keeping important Indian cultural traditions alive. The program concluded with a Shanti Path (peace chant).
