Shri Kumar Purushottam, Commissioner and Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh State Agriculture Marketing Board, made an unannounced visit to the Ganj Basoda Agricultural Produce Market Committee in Vidisha district on Friday, August 21, 2026. The inspection aimed to thoroughly evaluate the mandi's various systems and engage directly with farmers and traders to understand their issues, needs, and suggestions.

Commissioner Purushottam instructed officials to take immediate steps to make the mandi's operations more simple, transparent, and accessible, adopting a farmer-centric approach. He closely observed the functioning of the e-mandi and e-NAM (Electronic National Agriculture Market) systems implemented at the mandi.

E-NAM Systems and Farmer Facilities Under Scrutiny

During his visit, Shri Purushottam inspected the e-NAM lab to ensure farmers were receiving effective online facilities for better marketing of their produce. He also rigorously examined the condition of the farmer rest house, canteen services, quality of drinking water supply, overall cleanliness of the mandi premises, and the arrangements for effective dissemination of essential information to farmers and traders.

Infrastructure Development for Quality Produce Emphasized

The Commissioner also inspected the auction shed, concrete roads (CC roads), and electronic weighbridges within the mandi complex. He visited the site of the under-construction grading and cleaning plant, intended to enhance farmer facilities, and obtained detailed information on the progress and timeline of the construction work from the concerned officials.

Shri Purushottam stressed the critical importance of timely development of necessary infrastructure to provide farmers with superior marketing facilities commensurate with the quality of their agricultural produce.

Need for Additional Entry-Exit Routes for Smooth Traffic Flow

While inspecting the mandi office, the Commissioner reviewed the Digital Interactive Vision (DIV) system, the farmer help desk, and the functioning of various branches. He emphasized strengthening the process for quick and effective resolution of problems faced by farmers.

Instructions were issued to develop additional entry and exit routes to facilitate smooth and unimpeded traffic flow within the mandi premises. He also directed officials to expedite the expansion of the mandi complex alongside ongoing construction, ensuring farmers and traders do not face any inconvenience due to increased arrivals in the future.

The Commissioner instructed officials to develop well-planned systems by assessing the mandi's current operational needs as well as potential future requirements.

Ensuring Employee Discipline and Adherence to Standards

During the inspection, Commissioner Shri Kumar Purushottam also assessed the attendance, work arrangements, and adherence to the prescribed dress code of the employees and security guards working at the mandi. He directed officials to ensure that all mandi systems operate in accordance with prescribed government and departmental standards.
