Mumbai, October 2025: JioHotstar has announced the January 2026 premiere of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a prequel series set in the iconic Game of Thrones universe.

“This Winter, Spring is coming. #AKnightoftheSevenKingdoms premieres this January, only on JioHotstar,” the platform tweeted alongside a teaser poster featuring the central characters.

The poster, captioned “A tall tale that became legend,” depicts a young boy with a shaved head, identified as Egg, standing alongside Ser Duncan the Tall, who rests his hand on a massive sword. While Egg wears a hooded tunic, Ser Duncan’s face remains partially obscured, adding an air of mystery.

The series adapts George R.R. Martin’s The Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas and is set a century before the events of Game of Thrones. It follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, as they traverse Westeros under the Targaryen dynasty, during a time when dragons are still remembered.

Peter Claffey stars as Ser Duncan, while Dexter Sol Ansell takes on the role of the young Aegon (Egg). Fans can also expect appearances from notable Targaryens, including Prince Baelor, Prince Maekar, and Prince Aerion “Brightflame.”

The prequel promises to explore Westeros in a new light, highlighting the legendary tales that shaped the lore leading up to Game of Thrones.
