‘Gadar 2’ Actor Ameesha Patel Says Deserving Talent Is Finally Getting Its Due Amid Bollywood Reset

Actor Ameesha Patel believes Bollywood is undergoing a long-overdue correction, with genuine talent finally finding recognition in the post-pandemic era. The Gadar 2 star recently reflected on the changing dynamics of the film industry, saying that the current phase has brought a sense of balance where “deserving” artists are reclaiming their space.

During a recent AMA session on social media, Ameesha was asked what had made her smile lately. Her response quickly turned into a candid commentary on how Hindi cinema has evolved after COVID-19. According to the actor, the industry’s priorities have shifted, leading to a reality check for many who once dominated the space.

‘A reset was needed’

Ameesha pointed out that the pandemic acted as a turning point for Bollywood. She suggested that the industry has moved away from surface-level hype and is now focusing more on merit, audience connect, and content.

She noted that several artists who were overlooked earlier are now receiving the recognition they deserved years ago. At the same time, she hinted that those who relied solely on privilege or image are being forced to reassess their standing. “All the deserving ones are getting their dues,” she said, adding that this change has given her genuine happiness.

Revisiting Race 2 and special appearances

In the same interaction, Ameesha also revisited her role in Race 2, where she appeared alongside Anil Kapoor. A fan pointed out that although her role was brief, it left a lasting impression. Responding to this, the actor revealed that the project was a special gesture for filmmakers Abbas-Mustan, whom she considers her favourite directors.

Open to OTT, but with conditions

Ameesha also addressed the growing influence of web series and OTT platforms. When asked whether she would consider starring in a digital project, the actor made it clear that content would be the deciding factor.

She said she would love to work in a web series provided the script excites her and justifies her presence. For her, meaningful storytelling and passion-driven projects matter more than the medium itself. She added that she is equally open to films and OTT, as long as the content is strong and created with sincerity.

“Good films made with passion, not just as projects, are always my priority,” she noted, while also acknowledging that OTT platforms are producing some of the most compelling, content-led work today.
