Leg-spinner Karn Sharma, a well-known figure in Indian cricket, has announced his retirement from professional cricket at the age of 38. This announcement, made on August 23, 2026, officially marks the end of his nearly 19-year-long cricket career.

Currently representing Kanpur Superstars in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League, Sharma's final match is scheduled for August 25 against Meerut Mavericks. Despite limited international opportunities, his journey in the IPL and Indian domestic cricket was filled with achievements, including winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) title four times.

A Remarkable IPL Legacy

One of Sharma's notable achievements is being among the select few players in IPL history to win the title for three consecutive years with three different teams. This unique feat highlights his consistent contribution to championship-winning sides.

While Sharma's international career was brief, his IPL record is particularly memorable. His most golden period was from 2016 to 2018, when he won three consecutive IPL titles with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Chennai Super Kings, respectively. He later clinched his fourth IPL title with Chennai Super Kings in 2021.

Sharma played only one Test, two One Day Internationals (ODIs), and one T20 International during his international career. In first-class cricket, he scalped 270 wickets in 97 matches. In List-A (ODI) cricket, he took 153 wickets from 123 games, while in T20 cricket, he bagged 168 wickets in 191 matches. His total wicket count across all formats exceeds 591, underscoring his consistent performance and wicket-taking ability.
