Administration on High Alert Amidst Flood Concerns

The district administration in Mirzapur has initiated stringent precautionary measures following the apprehension of potential floods. District Magistrate Pawan Kumar Gangwar personally inspected flood-prone areas to assess preparedness.

On-Site Inspection and Assessment

The inspection focused on the Sadar tehsil area, specifically the villages of Akoḍhi and Rajasuva Gram Chaukṭha. During the visit, the District Magistrate meticulously examined the approach roads to both villages to understand potential waterlogging and its impact on connectivity during a flood scenario.

Additionally, he gathered detailed information about the current water levels of the Ganga River in the vicinity of the villages. This assessment is crucial for anticipating the severity of any potential inundation.

Community Engagement and Assurances

Engaging directly with local residents, the District Magistrate listened to their concerns and problems. Villagers highlighted the significant difficulties they face in commuting when approach roads are washed away due to floods.

The District Magistrate assured the villagers of all possible assistance, stating that the administration is fully equipped to handle any emergency. He emphasized that all necessary preventative steps have been taken, and no citizen will face inconvenience.

Directives for Disaster Management

The District Magistrate issued specific instructions to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sadar to ensure all essential arrangements are in place well in advance of any potential flood situation. Flood outposts in vulnerable areas are to be activated immediately with deployed personnel.

• Maintaining readily available medical facilities was highlighted.

Furthermore, directions were given to identify high-ground safe locations and prepare them for temporary shelters. Essential guidelines were also issued for arranging fodder and clean drinking water for livestock.

Focus on Vigilance and Information Dissemination

Officials from the Revenue and Flood departments were directed to maintain a close watch on the Ganga River's water levels. The public was urged to disregard rumors and rely solely on official information released by the administration.

Present during the inspection were SDM Sadar Mahendra Singh, Nayab Tehsildar, concerned Lekhpal, and other relevant officials, underscoring the seriousness of the preparedness efforts.
