In a major security breach, unidentified thieves broke into five apartments at the upscale Pacific Blue residential complex in Bhopal’s Misrod area late Saturday night. According to police, the suspects scaled the society’s boundary by cutting through barbed wire and proceeded to break into multiple flats across three blocks before fleeing with cash and valuables from at least one unit.

CCTV Footage Offers Crucial Clues

Misrod Police Station in-charge confirmed that surveillance footage from the society shows three to four individuals entering the premises around 2 a.m. “The suspects appear to have conducted a recce of the area before executing the burglary,” an officer familiar with the investigation said.

The theft came to light after maintenance worker Rakesh Katare (45) noticed the fence along the railway track side of the boundary had been cut. When he reviewed the CCTV footage, he found images of the intruders entering the complex. Katare then alerted residents and local police.

Flats Targeted, Valuables Missing

Residents Arvind Kumar Gupta and Vikas Khare reported missing gold and silver ornaments and cash from their flats. Both were out of town during the festival. Three other residents — Neeraj Meena, Anumeha Jain, and Raghvendra Pandey — found their homes ransacked, though no valuables appeared stolen.

“The locks were broken, and everything was scattered inside. It seems they were looking for something specific,” one resident said, requesting anonymity.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for housebreaking and theft. “We are analyzing the CCTV footage frame by frame and have deployed teams to trace the movement of the suspects. Forensic teams have also been called in,” said an investigating officer.
