FIR Ordered Against Two Fair Price Shops in Guna for Ration Irregularities

Guna, September 1, 2026 - A major case of ration diversion has surfaced in the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh, involving two fair price shops operating under the Public Distribution System (PDS). District Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal, upon noticing this serious irregularity, has issued orders to file First Information Reports (FIRs) against the respective operators of both shops.

This action has been taken as part of a special campaign aimed at ensuring timely availability of food grains to consumers. District Supply Officer Avadhesh Pandey reported that an inspection of the stock at the government fair price shop in Pipalyamoti village, Chanchoda tehsil, operated by the Bajrangbali Self-Help Group, was conducted by the Assistant Supply Officer, Chanchoda.

The inspection revealed that 99.44 quintals of wheat, 22.11 quintals of rice, 585 kilograms of salt, and 35 kilograms of sugar were not found in stock at the shop. The estimated economic value of this missing ration is approximately ₹4,13,310. This unavailability of ration was directly deemed as diversion, following which a case was prepared. Given the seriousness of the matter, the Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue), Chanchoda, had sent a proposal to file an FIR, upon which the Collector ordered immediate action.

Significant Ration Missing from Sirsi Shop

Similarly, at the government fair price shop in Sirsi village, Guna tehsil, operated by the Aadim Jati Sewa Sahakari Sanstha Markimahoo, a large-scale diversion of ration commodities was found. An inspection conducted by the Assistant Supply Officer, Guna, found 112.98 quintals of wheat, 15.51 quintals of rice, and 36 kilograms of sugar missing from the shop.

The economic value of this unavailable stock is around ₹4,02,200. Following a proposal from the Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue), Guna, to file an FIR, Collector Kanyal has issued instructions to immediately register a police FIR against this shop as well.

Another Case Under CM Jan-Vishwas Abhiyan Under Consideration

In line with the Collector's directives, an inspection was also conducted of a shop in Jhajhaun village, Janpad Panchayat Aron, under the Chief Minister's Jan-Vishwas Abhiyan. This inspection also revealed discrepancies in stock and other irregularities.

This case has been sent to the SDM Aron for investigation and action. These actions will strengthen the government's efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in the public distribution system and will send a clear message to shop operators found misusing government schemes.
