Criminal Injured in Police Encounter

FATEHPUR: A 22-year-old notorious criminal, identified as Sahil Qureshi, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during a police encounter late last night in the Ferozepur district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in the Thariyawan police station area on the western bypass.

Police claim that the accused first opened fire on the patrolling officers when they attempted to stop him. In self-defense, police returned fire, hitting Qureshi in the left leg. The injured criminal is a resident of Jamrawan village in the Hussainganj police station area.

Recovery of Arms and Cash

Immediately following the encounter, which police state took place around 12 AM between August 19 and 20, Sahil Qureshi was taken into custody. He was then transported to the District Hospital, Ferozepur, for immediate medical attention and is currently under observation.

During the search, police recovered an illegal .315 bore country-made pistol, two spent cartridges, and one live cartridge from Qureshi's possession. Additionally, ₹1000 in cash was also found on him. These items have been seized by the police, and an investigation is underway to determine the source of the illegal weapon and its use in criminal activities.

Wanted in Multiple Cases

According to police sources, Sahil Qureshi was a wanted criminal in two separate cases registered at the Thariyawan police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). Preliminary investigations reveal that Qureshi has a significant criminal history, with a total of 12 cases registered against him across different police stations in the Ferozepur district.

Authorities are currently scrutinizing the details and Qureshi's involvement in these past cases. The police are also intensifying efforts to uncover his associated criminal network and gather information about other individuals connected to him and his past offenses. Further legal action will be taken once a comprehensive understanding of his criminal activities is established.
