Father of BSP Leader Passes Away on Janmashtami; Leaders Pay Tributes
The father of senior BSP leader Advocate Dhneshwar Gautam, Shyam Lal Gautam, passed away at 92 on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.

Shyam Lal Gautam, father of senior Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader and former candidate from Sonbhadra parliamentary constituency, Advocate Dhneshwar Gautam, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the age of 92 at his ancestral residence.
Mr. Gautam's demise occurred at six in the morning on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. Shyam Lal Gautam was a respected senior citizen of the village Chhahur Majhigwan.
Political Background and Tributes
Shyam Lal Gautam was the father of Advocate Dhneshwar Gautam, who had twice contested elections from the Chhanbey Assembly constituency as a BSP candidate and had also served as the former president of the Lalganj Bar Association.
Upon the news of his passing spreading, leaders from various political parties, village heads, and a large number of villagers from surrounding areas reached his residence in Chhahur Majhigwan to pay their last respects and offer heartfelt tributes to his mortal remains.
Funeral Arrangements and Attendees
Preparations for the funeral with state honors are underway. Those who expressed grief over his passing include former MLA Bhagwati Prasad Chaudhary, Chhanbey MLA Mrs. Rinki Kol, senior Congress leader Shashi Bhushan Dubey, senior journalist from Kanchania, representative of Apna Dal senior leader and Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel, Dr. SP Singh Patel, Gram Pradhan/Administrator Ganesh Shankar Dubey, Samajwadi Party District Vice President Jumman Pathan, Aftab Alam, Rampur Vasid Ali Gram Pradhan Administrator Hafeez Ahmed, former headmaster Azad Khan, Ansar Ali, and several other Congress leaders.
It has been informed that the final rites for Shyam Lal Gautam will be performed at the Chaubey Ghat crematorium in Mirzapur city at 12:30 PM. His son, Advocate Dhneshwar Gautam, will perform the last rites.
The presence of eminent citizens and political figures from the region is expected on this solemn occasion.
