New Developments in Self-Immolation Attempt

A new turn has emerged in the self-immolation incident that occurred at the Fatehpur Development Building complex on Thursday. The accused, Gram Pradhan Vikram Pratap Singh of Ghazipur, has completely denied the allegations of a five-lakh rupee corruption charge against him, terming it a well-planned conspiracy and a drama.

Addressing a press conference in Harihar Ganj, Gram Pradhan Vikram Pratap Singh claimed that the individual who attempted self-immolation, Ajay Pratap alias Jabbar Singh, has a long criminal history. He stated that there are thirteen criminal cases registered against Jabbar Singh in various police stations across the district, including serious charges like the Gangster Act and district expulsion.

Accusations of Extortion and Blackmail

The Pradhan alleged that Jabbar Singh demanded five lakh rupees and a shop belonging to the Gram Panchayat from him. Gram Pradhan Singh clarified that Jabbar Singh illegally occupies land designated for a barn and engages in collecting 'goonda tax' from local residents.

He further stated that the investigation process for the construction of shops is already underway, and the report is yet to be submitted. Accusing the District Panchayat Raj Officer (DPRO) and the Pradhan of accepting money without completing the investigation is merely a tactic for blackmailing, Singh asserted.

Demand for Action Against Complainant

Gram Pradhan Vikram Pratap Singh further claimed that when his demand for extortion was not met, Jabbar Singh staged a self-immolation attempt by pouring petrol. He also claimed that the complainant had previously attempted to assault the District Panchayat Raj Officer.

The Gram Pradhan has urged administrative officials to take the strictest possible legal action against such a cunning criminal to prevent similar incidents in the future.
