Fatahpur: Major Scam Uncovered in Disability Pension Scheme, Family Benefited for Five Years

Scam Revealed in Disability Pension Scheme

A major scam has come to light in the Fatahpur district under the disability pension scheme. In the village of Murav, under Sadar Tehsil, a case has emerged where fake disability pension cards were allegedly created for family members, allowing them to improperly benefit from government pensions for approximately five years.

The District Disability Welfare Department has taken cognizance of the matter, cancelling the cards of the concerned pensioners and initiating the process for recovery of the funds. It is alleged that a family member, Sumit, obtained disability pension cards in the names of his mother Sunita, father Arjun, and uncle Gyan Singh.

Fraudulent Cards Led to Over Two Lakh in Improper Funds

Based on these cards, over two lakh rupees in government funds were reportedly channeled into the family's accounts over a period of approximately five years. The discrepancy was uncovered during an initial investigation, prompting swift action from the District Disability Welfare Department.

Confirming the incident, the District Disability Welfare Officer stated that investigations revealed the individuals for whom pensions were sanctioned were either not disabled or their cards were fraudulently obtained. The disability pension cards for all three members have been immediately cancelled.

Recovery Process Initiated

The department is now taking steps to recover the government funds disbursed through these fake cards. Given the severity of the case, the District Disability Welfare Officer has issued notices to the individuals involved. The department is also investigating how this fraud was perpetrated and with whose assistance.

Such fraudulent activities undermine the integrity of government schemes and deprive genuine beneficiaries of much-needed support. The department is committed to ensuring accountability and preventing future occurrences of such scams.
