Tractor-Trolley Overturns After Religious Ceremony

A tragic road accident occurred in the district on Monday evening when a tractor-trolley, returning from a Shivling installation ceremony, lost control and overturned. Eight people traveling on the trolley sustained injuries in the mishap.

All the injured were immediately admitted to the emergency department of Lohia Hospital. Due to the critical condition of one individual, they were referred to a higher medical center for advanced treatment.

Accident Details and Cause

The incident took place near Mehmudpur village within the Jahangirganj police station limits. According to information, a Shivling installation program was organized at the temple of Jaswant, a resident of Mehmudpur village.

Villagers and residents from nearby areas had traveled to Panchal Ghat for the ceremony using three tractor-trollies. On their return journey Monday evening, the hitch connecting one of the tractor-trollies abruptly broke in the Jahangirganj police station area. This caused the trolley to lose its balance and overturn on the road.

Vehicle Overturns, Injuries Reported

It is reported that a DJ and a generator were also loaded onto the trolley, which was carrying approximately 18 to 20 people. Screams and cries erupted at the scene following the trolley's overturn.

Injured Shifted to Hospital, Critical Patient Referred

Upon receiving information about the injured, the Jahangirganj police station personnel promptly reached the spot. With the help of ambulances, all the injured were transported to Lohia Hospital.

The arrival of eight injured individuals simultaneously created a brief state of chaos in the hospital's emergency department. Dr. Abhishek Chaturvedi, on duty, along with other doctors, commenced immediate treatment for the injured.

Details of Injuries

During treatment, it was discovered that a person named Ramakant had sustained severe injuries. His rib had fractured and entered his lungs, necessitating his referral to Kannauj Medical College for better treatment.

Another injured person suffered a leg fracture, while the rest sustained minor injuries. The names of those injured in the accident are Lalu Singh (25), Ramakant (37), Ansh (15), Rajnesh (15), Sher Singh (40), Jitendra (23), Dhruv (15), and Mohit (18).

Official Confirmation and Traffic Disruption

Jahangirganj Station House Officer Poonam Awasthi confirmed that the tractor-trolley, traveling from the city towards the village, overturned due to a broken hitch. She stated that all eight injured were brought to Lohia Hospital, and one critically injured person was sent to Kannauj Medical College for treatment.

The accident caused long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road, leading to traffic disruption.
