Wife Brutally Murdered After Dispute in Farrukhabad
FARrukhABAD, August 12, 2026 – A disturbing incident unfolded in Devrampur village, under the Kadirigate police station area of Farrukhabad, late Tuesday night. A husband is accused of the brutal murder of his wife after a minor argument. The accused husband has fled the scene following the incident.
Upon receiving information, the deceased's maternal family rushed to the village, where the house was filled with wails and cries. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination. Efforts are underway to apprehend the accused.
Background of the Couple and the Incident
According to information, the deceased, Meera Devi alias Reena, was married approximately 14 years ago to Shani Verma, a resident of Devrampur. Shani Verma reportedly worked as a labourer and is said to be addicted to substances. The couple had four children: Durga, Ram, Shyam, and Khushi.
Tuesday night, around 11:45 PM, the deceased Meera's daughter, Durga, called her uncle Bhanu Pratap, informing him that her father had killed her mother.
Police Investigation and Search Underway
Acting swiftly on this information, Bhanu Pratap, a resident of Nagla Kothi in the Ganjdundwara police station area of Kasganj district, arrived in Devrampur village with his family upon hearing of his sister Meera Devi's murder. There, they witnessed her body, plunging their family into mourning. Meera Devi's mother, Morshri, is inconsolable.
The police, who arrived at the scene, inspected the location and gathered evidence. The Superintendent of Police stated that given the gravity of the matter, an immediate investigation has been ordered.
Accused on the Run, Post-Mortem to Reveal Cause of Death
The accused husband, Shani Verma, has been absconding since the incident, and the police are conducting raids at his suspected hideouts to apprehend him. The exact cause of death will be revealed only after the post-mortem report is received. Police have assured that the accused will be arrested soon.
