Administration Gears Up for Kanwar Yatra

Farrukhabad | July 23, 2026 - The administration in Farrukhabad is on high alert for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra during the Shravan month. A crucial review meeting, chaired by District Magistrate Dr. Ankur Lathar, was held at the Collectorate Auditorium in Fatehgarh.

The meeting assessed preparations by various departments, with directives issued to ensure all necessary arrangements are made in a timely manner. The primary focus is on the convenience and safety of the devotees, making these the utmost priorities.

Traffic Management and Control Room

The District Magistrate emphasized the importance of traffic management, stating that route diversions should be implemented as needed on days with heavy crowds to maintain smooth traffic flow. He also stressed the need for effective communication of these changes to the public well in advance.

Furthermore, an order was issued for the establishment of a control room at the Ganga ghat. This control room will be responsible for the continuous monitoring of all arrangements.

Safety and Medical Preparedness Reviewed

During the review of safety measures, the District Magistrate instructed that adequate fire extinguishers be available at the Ganga ghats. To prevent electrical accidents, poles were ordered to be safely covered with polythene, and power lines are to be regularly inspected.

He also directed the ensure the proper availability of medical teams, doctors, ambulances, and life-saving medicines to provide immediate medical assistance in case of emergencies. The District Magistrate instructed concerned officials to conduct regular inspections and necessary maintenance of the bridge at the Ganga ghat to prevent any inconvenience to the devotees.

Inter-Departmental Coordination Emphasized

He called upon all departments to work with mutual coordination and responsibility to ensure the Kanwar Yatra is conducted safely, systematically, and peacefully. It was also informed that on every Monday of Shravan month and on the occasion of Mahashivratri, a large number of devotees from the district and surrounding areas embark on journeys from the Ganga ghats with Ganga water for 'Jal Abhishek' at the Shivling in Gola Gokarnnath.

Considering the potential for a large influx of devotees, the administration has prepared a comprehensive action plan for security and facilities. District-level officers from relevant departments were present at the meeting.
