Farmers' Union Presents Seven-Point Demands to Prime Minister

The Cliff News | Etawah | September 21, 2026 Local officials of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Bhanu) have submitted a seven-point memorandum to the Prime Minister, delivered through the District Magistrate of Etawah, demanding immediate resolutions to various farmer-related issues.

The organization has urged the central government to safeguard farmers' economic interests through policy-level reforms. A key demand in the submitted memorandum is the formation of a powerful 'Farmers' Commission'. This commission would be tasked with conducting thorough evaluations of farmers' problems and their agricultural conditions periodically.

Strengthening Agricultural Procurement and Promoting Organic Farming

The memorandum also places significant emphasis on further strengthening the agricultural produce procurement system and ensuring remunerative and fair prices for farmers for their hard-earned crops. The organization highlighted the necessity of establishing a robust government framework to promote natural and organic farming.

Improving Rural Services and Addressing Public Concerns

In addition to economic demands, the memorandum expresses concern over the state of education and healthcare services in rural areas. The union appealed for ensuring adequate recruitment of teachers in rural schools and substantial improvements in medical facilities available in government hospitals. This demand represents a significant step towards improving access to essential services for the rural population.

Call for Transparency and Financial Aid

The memorandum also mentions reforms in the toll tax system, aimed at providing relief to the general public. The organization further demanded greater transparency in the functioning of government employees and political figures, along with strict and swift action in cases of corruption. Additionally, the issue of providing immediate financial assistance to the families of soldiers and farmers who have died in accidents was prominently raised.

Warning of Mass Agitation

The Bhartiya Kisan Union (Bhanu) has warned that if the government does not take prompt and positive steps on these demands, the organization will be compelled to launch a large-scale agitation. Several officials, including Shalu Ali, Simran, Manoj Kumar Katheria, Mohit Rathore, and Mohammed Hanif, were present during the submission of this memorandum.
