Farmers' Union Alleges House Arrest of National President Over Trade Deal Protest

Bharatiya Kisan Union (Mahashakti) has leveled serious allegations of a house arrest against its national president, Thakur Dharmendra Singh, in connection with a proposed protest against the India-US trade deal. The organization claims that Singh has been confined to his home for the past four days to prevent him from joining the demonstration at Kisan Ghat in Delhi.

In a statement issued by the organization, this action has been described as an attempt to curb the democratic rights of farmers. Bharatiya Kisan Union (Mahashakti) has called upon all its office bearers and workers to unite in protest against this alleged repression and gather in large numbers.

Further Strategy Meeting Called

District President Manoj Yadav stated that the organization's office bearers and workers will depart for the national office in Bulandshahr on Saturday, July 26, 2026, at 11 AM. A crucial meeting will be held there to decide on the future strategy concerning the India-US trade deal. Yadav emphasized that farmer organizations will continue to voice their concerns democratically.

Meanwhile, workers in support of National President Thakur Dharmendra Singh raised slogans of "National President Thakur Dharmendra Singh Zindabad" and "Bharatiya Kisan Union Mahashakti Zindabad." They resolved to make the upcoming movement successful and expressed their opposition to the trade deal. As of the time of writing, there has been no independent confirmation or official response from the administration regarding the farmers' union's claim of the national president being placed under house arrest.
