Government Initiative to Ensure Fertilizer Availability
The Indian government is launching a significant initiative to ensure the smooth availability of fertilizers for farmers. Following a temporary halt in fertilizer sales from the evening of August 14th to reconcile the IFMS portal with the stock of fertilizer vendors, sales are set to resume on Monday, August 17th. This process is being completed smoothly to prevent any inconvenience to farmers.
'Every Farmer, Every Home, Every Field Fertilizer' Campaign Launched
A special campaign titled 'Every Farmer, Every Home, Every Field Fertilizer' is set to commence on Thursday, August 20th. The primary objective of this campaign is to ensure that farmers begin receiving the fertilizers required for the Rabi season starting this month. The plan is to provide farmers with fertilizers in advance according to their needs, preventing any issues during the crucial sowing period.
Sufficient Stock of Chemical Fertilizers Available
According to government data, the state has an adequate stock of chemical fertilizers. Since April 1st, 2026, a total of 17.04 lakh metric tonnes of urea has been available, with farmers having lifted 12.83 lakh metric tonnes. Currently, 4.21 lakh metric tonnes of urea remain available in the state, a significant increase compared to the 1.60 lakh metric tonnes available during the same period last year.
The situation for DAP and NPK fertilizers is also satisfactory. A total availability of 11.20 lakh metric tonnes has been recorded from April 1st, with farmers lifting 7.09 lakh metric tonnes. Currently, 4.10 lakh metric tonnes of DAP and NPK are available, compared to 3.00 lakh metric tonnes at this time last year.
Increase in SSP Availability
Availability of Single Super Phosphate (SSP) has also seen an increase. From April 1st to date, the state has had a total availability of 6.78 lakh metric tonnes of SSP, with farmers lifting 3.61 lakh metric tonnes. Currently, 3.17 lakh metric tonnes of SSP are in stock. These figures reflect the government's commitment to ensuring a smooth supply of fertilizers and meeting the needs of farmers in the state.
