Farmers' Collective Threatens Bhopal March Over Unresolved Demands

Strategy Session Held for Upcoming Farmers' Protest

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) convened a crucial meeting to finalize strategies for an upcoming protest, focusing on the various issues faced by farmers and seeking their resolution. Representatives from farmer organizations across the Narmadapuram division and surrounding areas participated, engaging in detailed discussions about the future course of action.

Prominent farmer leaders, including Vimlesh Patel, Narsinghpur District President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait), were present. The meeting involved extensive deliberation on the pending demands of farmers, pressing agricultural concerns, and the steps the government should take to address these problems.

Memorandum to be Submitted to Agriculture Commissioner

Representatives of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha collectively decided to submit a comprehensive memorandum detailing their issues to the Agriculture Commissioner's office in Bhopal on July 21. Through this memorandum, they expect immediate action from the state government and administration.

The SKM has clearly stated that after submitting the memorandum, they will grant the government until July 23 to resolve the farmers' concerns. This timeframe is considered sufficient for addressing the farmers' primary worries and implementing concrete measures.

Bhopal March Announced if Demands Unmet

All farmer organizations present at the meeting emphasized that if their demands are not satisfactorily addressed within the stipulated deadline, they will escalate the protest to a larger scale. As part of this intensified agitation, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha has announced a major protest march from Narmadapuram to Bhopal on July 27.

On this day, farmers will perform a puja of the Narmada River before proceeding to Bhopal on foot in an organized manner. The objective of this march is to pressure the government and prominently voice the concerns of farmers at a national level.

Unity and Future Struggles of 13 Organizations

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha, comprising a total of 13 farmer organizations, has resolved to fight unitedly to protect the interests of farmers. Leaders stressed that any negligence towards farmers will not be tolerated and the struggle will continue until their legitimate demands are met. Discussions also covered various organizational preparations to ensure the success of the upcoming protest, including mobilizing more farmers, enhancing public outreach, and arranging necessary ground-level facilities.

Farmer leaders believe that their unity and collective efforts are key to getting their demands accepted. This meeting could prove to be a significant step towards effectively conveying the voice of farmers to the government and finding a lasting solution to their problems.
