Administration Cracks Down on Crop Residue Burning

The administration in Guna District has adopted a strict stance against the burning of crop residue. Following directives from Collector Kishor Kanyal, एसडीएम Raghogarh Amit Soni imposed a ₹5,000 fine on a farmer in the village of KadaiKheda, within the Madhusudangarh Tehsil.

This action was taken due to the burning of 'narwai' (crop residue) on land located at Survey Number 53/1. The administration clarified that instructions have been issued to the concerned tehsildars to recover the fine amount levied on landowner Suresh Kumar, son of Hemraj, and deposit it into the government treasury. An order has also been issued to attach a copy of the challan.

Emphasis on Environmental Protection and Health

Administrative officials highlighted the objectives of environmental protection and control of air pollution behind this action. It was explained that burning crop residue in fields not only increases atmospheric pollution but also diminishes soil fertility. Furthermore, it adversely affects public health and poses a risk of severe damage to nearby properties in case of fire.

Awareness Campaigns and Farmer Incentives

A public awareness campaign is also being conducted by the district administration to curb the practice of burning crop residue. A joint team from the Revenue and Agriculture departments visited the village of Ramdi and inspected the field of landowner Kalyan Singh Meena at Survey Number 416/2. Officials provided information to farmers on the use of advanced agricultural machinery for crop residue management and distributed awareness pamphlets in this regard.

Local farmers have expressed their commitment to not burn crop residue and have appealed to other farmers to abandon this harmful practice. The district administration is continuously monitoring this issue to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future and maintain environmental balance.
