Excise Department Conducts Major Operation in Bhind, Seizing 11 Liters of Liquor and 45 Liters of Jaggery Lahan

Major Crackdown on Illicit Liquor in Bhind

As part of an ongoing campaign against the manufacture and sale of illicit liquor in Bhind district, the Excise Department carried out a significant operation on Sunday. Acting on the directives of Collector Kirodilal Meena and under the guidance of Sub-Divisional Officer Gohad Vikas Kamor and District Excise Officer Bhind Mahesh Kumar Gaur, the Excise Circle Gohad team conducted a thorough checking drive in the Malanpur and Gohad Chowk areas.

During the operation, the department confiscated a total of 11.80 bulk liters of country liquor and 45 liters of illicit jaggery lahan. Two accused individuals were apprehended in connection with this seizure. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ramnaresh, son of Ramavatar (resident of Buti Kuiya), and Vidhyaram, son of Gaduram (resident of Tilori, Malanpur).

Liquor Seized, Accused Arrested

According to Excise Sub-Inspector Narendra Kumar Prajapati, 29 and 37 pouches of plain country liquor, respectively, were recovered from the possession of the two accused. The estimated value of the seized liquor is approximately ₹5,000. A case has been registered against both individuals under Section 34(1)'A' of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915.

Jaggery Lahan Destroyed Near Cadbury Factory

Acting on specific information about the illegal preparation of jaggery lahan near the canal bank adjacent to the Cadbury Factory in Malanpur, the excise team immediately conducted a raid. Approximately 45 liters of illicit jaggery lahan, stored in plastic cans, were seized from the spot. The estimated value of this seized lahan is assessed at ₹9,000. The team collected a sample of the lahan and destroyed the remaining quantity on-site.

A case has been registered against an unidentified accused under Section 34(1)'CH' of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, and investigations are underway. The entire operation was executed under the leadership of Excise Sub-Inspector Narendra Kumar Prajapati, with the assistance of Constables Brajesh Jayant, Janak Argal, and Sudip Verma. The Excise Department has reiterated its commitment to continuing such campaigns against the manufacture and sale of illicit liquor in the region to curb this illegal trade.
