Woman Missing for 25 Days, Family Accuses Police of Negligence
A distressing case has emerged from Uttar Pradesh's Etawah district, where a young woman has been missing for the past 25 days. The victim's family has leveled serious accusations of inaction against the local police, particularly singling out a female Sub-Inspector for alleged misconduct and bribery.
The mother of the missing woman, desperate for her daughter's safe recovery and demanding action against those responsible, has appealed to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Etawah, for assistance. She stated that her daughter left home on July 28, 2026, to deposit fees at a local degree college and has not been seen since.
Upon searching their home, the family discovered that the daughter had taken approximately ₹20,000 in cash, gold earrings valued at ₹1.5 lakh, a gold ring worth ₹50,000, and silver anklets costing ₹25,000. A written complaint regarding this incident was filed with the Saifai police station on the same day, July 28.
Serious Allegations Against Female Sub-Inspector and Police Inaction
According to the complaint, the responsibility for the investigation was assigned to Sub-Inspector Suman Pal. However, the complainant alleges that Ms. Pal conducted no active investigation and did not visit the college or the scene. Furthermore, the mother claims that the Sub-Inspector misplaced the application letter of their complaint.
When the victim and her husband visited the police station seeking information about their daughter, Sub-Inspector Suman Pal allegedly behaved abusively, used offensive language, and threatened them with false implication and imprisonment. It was only after a complaint to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (CO) of Saifai that the missing person report for the young woman was registered on July 31, 2026.
Alarmingly, the investigation into this case was also handed over to the same Sub-Inspector Suman Pal, who had allegedly taken no action. The victim later learned that a young man had lured her daughter away. The family provided the police with the mobile numbers of the man and his associates, but no action was taken.
Allegations of Delay in Action for Financial Gain
The victim alleges that Sub-Inspector Suman Pal accepted financial benefits from the opposing party and consequently took no steps to recover her daughter. After 13 days of no action following the missing person report, the complainant once again approached the CO Saifai. Subsequently, a case was registered on August 12, 2026, under Section 87 of Mus 182/26.
The woman further alleges that the Station House Officer of Saifai police station had summoned the accused youth's father for questioning. However, Sub-Inspector Suman Pal allegedly accepted a bribe from him as well, conducted no interrogation, and let him go.
Lost Hope, Warning of Suicide
According to the victim, she received information that the accused young man had forcibly married her daughter in court and was holding her captive at a relative's house in Ghaziabad. The mother believes that had Sub-Inspector Suman Pal arrested the youth and recovered her daughter in a timely manner, her daughter's life would not be ruined today.
Distraught by the police's inaction and the societal breakdown, the complainant stated that she and her husband no longer wish to live and see suicide as their only remaining option. She had pleaded with the Sub-Inspector to simply bring her daughter before them so she could speak for herself about whether the marriage was consensual, but no action was taken.
In this grave matter, the victim has demanded that the SSP Etawah ensure the safe recovery of her daughter and take swift and stringent action against the female Sub-Inspector, Suman Pal, to prevent other families from facing such tragedies.
