Hygiene and Monsoon Disease Prevention Highlighted in Chhatarpur Essay Competition

Chhatarpur | July 21, 2026 - The Chhatarpur Municipal Council boosted its hygiene awareness campaign by organizing an essay competition for students at Saraswati Shishu Mandir School on Tuesday. The primary aim of the event was to enhance students' awareness of sanitation, educate them on scientific waste management, and inform them about preventive measures against monsoon-related illnesses.

Under the guidance of Municipal President Jyoti Chaurasia and Chief Municipal Officer Madhuri Sharma, and with the direction of Hygiene Nodal Officer Nitesh Chaurasia, the Municipal Council's Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) team successfully executed the event. A large number of students participated enthusiastically, articulating their thoughts on crucial topics such as hygiene, environmental protection, and healthy lifestyles.

Inspiring Hygiene Habits Among Students

During the program, students were apprised of the importance of maintaining cleanliness in both their homes and schools. They were encouraged to segregate wet and dry waste, avoid the unnecessary use of plastic, keep public spaces clean, and actively contribute to the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission. This message underscored the responsibility of every citizen.

Monsoon Disease Prevention Measures Discussed

The IEC team provided detailed information on preventing illnesses prevalent during the monsoon season, including dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and waterborne diseases. Students were advised to prevent water stagnation around their surroundings, consume only pure and boiled drinking water, clean their hands regularly, eat nutritious food, and pay special attention to personal hygiene.

At the conclusion of the competition, students were urged to adopt hygienic practices themselves and to raise awareness about health and hygiene among their families and neighbors. The school management commended the Municipal Council's initiative, stating that such programs foster a sense of social responsibility in children and motivate them to lead healthy and clean lives.
