ED Arrests Jaypee Infratech MD Manoj Gaur in ₹12,000-Crore Money Laundering Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Manoj Gaur, Managing Director of Jaypee Infratech Ltd (JIL), under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with an alleged ₹12,000-crore fund diversion case.

According to the agency, Gaur was taken into custody for his alleged role in misusing funds collected from thousands of homebuyers, primarily linked to projects such as Jaypee Wishtown and Jaypee Greens.

The probe stems from multiple FIRs filed in 2017 following large-scale protests by homebuyers who accused the Jaypee Group of cheating and financial misappropriation. Investigators allege that money collected for housing projects was siphoned off to other group ventures instead of being used for construction.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the ED conducted searches at 15 locations across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Mumbai, seizing ₹1.7 crore in cash, along with financial documents, property papers, and digital records.

Jaypee Infratech, once a key real estate player in the NCR, has been under insolvency proceedings since 2017 after failing to deliver thousands of flats to homebuyers. The ED’s probe now seeks to uncover the money trail and determine the full scope of the alleged fraud involving Jaypee Group’s subsidiaries — JIL and Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL).
