Drunk Driving Crackdown in Farrukhabad: ₹18,000 Fine Issued

Drunk Driving Campaign Launched in Farrukhabad

The traffic police in Farrukhabad district have initiated a special campaign aimed at curbing road accidents and ensuring traffic safety by targeting drunk drivers. The intensive checking drive was conducted late Monday evening under the leadership of Traffic In-charge Satyendra Kumar near the Lal Darwaza bus stop in the Qadirsagar police station area.

During the operation, police inspected vehicles and took strict action against those found driving under the influence of alcohol. Drivers of two-wheelers and other vehicles were stopped and thoroughly checked using breathalyzer machines to confirm alcohol consumption.

Record Fine Issued to Disabled Rider

A notable incident during the campaign involved a disabled biker who was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Upon confirmation of alcohol consumption through police checks, a fine of ₹18,000 was issued for his motorcycle under the Motor Vehicles Act.

The concerned vehicle driver was issued a stern warning against drunk driving in the future. Police officials emphasized that negligent and intoxicated driving is extremely dangerous not only for the driver but also for other pedestrians and passengers.

Campaign Aims to Reduce Accidents

Traffic In-charge Satyendra Kumar stated that drunk driving by vehicle operators has been identified as a primary cause of numerous road accidents in the district. He explained that intoxication severely impairs a driver's reaction time, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.

In response to this serious issue and as per the directives of senior officials, special checking campaigns will be conducted regularly in the evenings across the district. He clarified that there will be no leniency towards traffic rule violators, and strict action will be ensured against drunk drivers under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Public Awareness and Road Safety

The police's primary objective is not just to issue fines but to raise public awareness about traffic rules and effectively reduce the number of road accidents. This action by the police has led to increased vigilance among drivers, causing a stir particularly among those who tend to drive under the influence.

The traffic police have appealed to all citizens to drive safely and to completely refrain from drinking and driving, keeping in mind the safety of their families and society. Officials have affirmed that this road safety campaign will continue indefinitely. Checks will be conducted periodically at public places, major intersections, and busy routes to ensure compliance with rules and to effectively control accidents.
