Major Action Against Drug Trafficking in Bareilly

The Cliff News | Bareilly | September 25, 2026 In a significant operation against the illegal drug trade, Bareilly police have arrested three traffickers. The successful operation was carried out by the Cantt police near the western corner of the 08th Battalion PAC on Shahjahanpur Road.

Authorities seized a total of 121.44 grams of Alprazolam powder, cash amounting to ₹5,680, two mobile phones, identity cards, and a Quanto car from the accused. The arrested individuals have been identified as Yashwant Verma alias Ashu, Ishu, and Vishal, all reportedly residents of Haryana.

Detailed Breakdown of Seized Substances

According to information provided by the police, 51.91 grams of Alprazolam powder were recovered from Yashwant Verma, 39.07 grams from Ishu, and 30.46 grams from Vishal. This action occurred during a routine vehicle inspection by the police team.

During the inspection, the Quanto car bearing registration number HR02AD9810 was stopped and searched, leading to the discovery of the illicit material.

Revealed Nexus with Local Accomplice

During interrogation, the arrested traffickers revealed their contact with a Bareilly resident named Nadeem, whom they communicated with via WhatsApp calls. They confessed to purchasing the narcotic powder at low prices from Nadeem and selling it at higher rates to truck drivers in Haryana.

The accused were reportedly waiting to receive more contraband from Nadeem on the day of their arrest. This information points towards a larger drug trafficking network with roots extending to Bareilly.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

A case has been registered under FIR No. 470/2026, under sections 8/22/29/60 of the NDPS Act. The seized narcotic substance has been sealed according to protocol, and legal formalities have been completed.

The arrested individuals have been presented before the court and will be remanded for further investigation and legal action. The successful operation was led by the Station House Officer, with significant contributions from Sub-Inspector Virendra Singh, Sub-Inspector Intzar Hussain, and other police personnel.
