'Drug-Free India' Speech Competition Organised at Guna College

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Unit D Company and 'My Bharat Kendra' Guna jointly organised a special speech competition on the theme 'Drug-Free India' on October 18, 2026. This event marked the culmination of the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'.

The primary objective of the programme was to educate the youth about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and to connect them with social responsibilities. This initiative was a significant part of various activities conducted on the college campus to foster nation-building and social consciousness among the youth.

Esteemed Guests and Jury

The event was graced by the presence of the officiating Principal of the college, Dr. Prabhat Choudhary, as the chief guest. The esteemed jury for the competition comprised distinguished professors and officers, including NCC Officer Captain Manoj Kumar Bhiroria, NSS Officer Dr. Sonu Jain, Dr. Sonia Goyal, and Dr. Praveen Choudhary. These dignitaries evaluated the students' thoughts and presentations.

The programme was skilfully anchored by Sanjeev Kumar Mehra from 'My Bharat Kendra' Guna, while Rajpal Yadav expressed gratitude to all the guests and participants.

Student Presentations on Drug-Free India

Students from the college effectively presented their views, arguments, and experiences on the 'Drug-Free India' theme. They elaborated on the severe social, economic, and health repercussions of drug abuse, highlighting the importance of staying away from it.

The students also discussed how the younger generation can fall prey to addiction, ruin their futures, and conversely, how they can become a positive force for society. Based on the students' knowledge, presentation style, and depth of understanding, the jury selected four talented students for their outstanding performances.

Awards and Motivation

These selected students were honoured with mementos and certificates in recognition of their performance. These awards were not only a tribute to their individual efforts but were also intended to inspire other students to voice their opinions and become active participants in such social issues.

Mass Pledge for a Drug-Free India

In the final phase of the ceremony, aimed at further strengthening the resolve for a 'Drug-Free India', all present students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and organisers took a collective pledge against drug abuse. This pledge symbolised both individual commitment and social responsibility.

Together, they vowed to abstain from drugs themselves and to make efforts to make those around them aware of its harmful effects and protect them from it. Through this collective oath, the youth ensured their active participation in making society free from the menace of drugs.

Concluding Remarks and Participation

A refreshment arrangement was made for all attendees at the end of the programme, concluding the event on a positive note. Approximately 100 students from NCC and NSS, under the guidance of senior professors Dr. Shivam Dixit, Dr. Purushottam Gautam, and Manoj Singh, were present and played a crucial role in making the event a success.

This entire initiative proved to be a highly effective step towards spreading awareness about social concerns among the youth and actively engaging them in nation-building activities.
