DJ Operators Protest Blanket Ban, Seek Review
The DJ Operators Association has launched a protest against the collective ban imposed on the operation of DJ and sound systems in Balrampur district. Members of the association met with Additional District Magistrate Shivnarayan and submitted a memorandum.
They have requested a review of the collective ban and permission to operate their businesses within established sound and time limits. The representatives expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate death of a child at a school and demanded a fair investigation and strict action against those responsible.
The operators argued that it is unjust to ban the entire business due to the fault of a single individual or organizer. They stated that this ban has jeopardized the livelihoods of hundreds, including sound and light operators, drivers, helpers, and technical experts, not just DJ operators.
Proposal for Sound Limits and Timings
In their memorandum, the DJ Operators Association has demanded that the administration set clear sound limits (decibels) and time restrictions for DJ operations, instead of a collective ban. They suggested that sound measuring devices should be made available on-site to check sound levels.
The association also proposed that special regulations be created for areas around schools, hospitals, and quiet zones to control noise pollution in these sensitive locations. Furthermore, they suggested establishing a transparent process for obtaining permits for weddings, religious, and social events.
They also recommended clearly defining the responsibilities of both the organizer and the operator. This would allow for accountability to be established in the event of any incident.
Livelihood Crisis and Appeal for Compassion
A large number of DJ operators and related staff, including Radheshyam, Babulal, Sanjay, Sonu, Ved Prakash, Sunil, Tilakram, Suyash, Ramsaran Virat, Ajay, Vipin, Subhash, Zakir, Kamlesh Kumar, and Prem Shankar, were present during the submission of the memorandum.
All of them have appealed to the administration to adopt a humanitarian approach and revive their business. This, they believe, will secure the livelihoods of poor families and prevent them from facing financial hardships.
