District Magistrate Emphasizes Increasing Farmer Income Through Fisheries and Beekeeping

Meeting Held to Boost Farmer Income

Farrukhabad | August 10, 2026 | A crucial meeting of the District Land and Water Conservation and District Mission Committee, chaired by the District Magistrate, was convened at the Collectorate auditorium. The primary objective of this meeting was to enhance farmer income through various schemes, with a particular focus on promoting alternative income sources like fisheries and beekeeping.

Attendees included Project Director, District Rural Development Agency, Mr. Kapil Kumar; Deputy Director Agriculture/Land Conservation Officer, Mr. Arvind Mohan Mishra; District Horticulture Officer, Mr. Raghavendra Singh; Assistant Director (Fisheries), Chief Veterinary Officer, Additional District Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Scientists, a representative from the District Lead Bank Manager, and other concerned officials and nominated farmers.

Schemes Approved for Fiscal Year 2026-27

The committee approved several significant schemes for the fiscal year 2026-27. This includes the approval of beneficiaries for 11 farm ponds. Under the Rainfed Area Development Scheme, 156 beneficiaries in 2 clusters will be benefited, with each farmer receiving a subsidy of ₹30,000.00 under various heads.

Additionally, approval was granted for 483.50 hectares of land and an amount of ₹109.74 lakh under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kisan Samriddhi Yojana. Work for the improvement of government agricultural farms under the Government Agriculture Development Scheme and 6 projects covering 434.33 hectares under the VBG Ramji Scheme were also sanctioned.

Emphasis on Alternative Avenues for Farmer Income Growth

The District Magistrate issued clear directives during the meeting, stressing that all possible efforts should be made to ensure an increase in farmer income. She particularly emphasized promoting fisheries through farm ponds, enabling farmers to develop an additional source of income.

Furthermore, instructions were given to encourage beekeeping and vermicompost production under the Rainfed Area Development Scheme. These activities are expected not only to boost farmer income but also to improve soil health and promote sustainable agriculture. The District Magistrate urged the concerned officials to work proactively for the successful implementation of these schemes.
