Crop Insurance for Flood Victims

Farrukhabad: In a review meeting of banks and bank-sponsored schemes held at the Collectorate auditorium on August 10, 2026, Farrukhabad's District Magistrate, Dr. Ankur Lathar, issued directives to ensure that farmers holding Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) in flood-affected areas receive priority under the crop insurance scheme. He also emphasized the need for re-verification of applications rejected by banks under various government-sponsored schemes.

Review of Banking Schemes and Loan Disbursal

During the meeting, the District Magistrate conducted a thorough review of the progress of various banking schemes operational in the district, particularly those related to self-employment and loans. He stated that eligible beneficiaries should receive the benefits of government schemes in a timely and transparent manner. The importance of promptly processing and resolving all loan-related applications without undue delay was highlighted.

Boosting Self-Employment and Economic Activity

Reviewing the progress of schemes such as the Kisan Credit Card, Self-Help Groups, Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme, Chief Minister Yuva Swarojgar Yojana, and Prime Minister Mudra Yojana, the District Magistrate instructed that more eligible youth, entrepreneurs, farmers, and self-help groups should be connected with banking schemes. This initiative aims to promote self-employment and economic activities within the district. He also stressed the need for better coordination between banks and relevant departmental officials to expedite the resolution of pending applications at the bank level under government schemes, ensuring 100% progress against set targets.

Ensuring Efficient Scheme Implementation

Furthermore, he directed that there should be no unnecessary delays in the process of loan sanction and disbursement for beneficiaries under bank-sponsored schemes, and effective implementation of these schemes must be ensured. The District Magistrate also instructed that re-verification of rejected applications for government-sponsored schemes across various banks should be conducted and a report submitted. Any irregularities found in a bank's functioning during this re-verification will be reported to the government.

Improving Credit-Deposit Ratio

The District Magistrate expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress in the Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio of State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, and Indian Bank. He directed the managers of the respective banks to take proactive steps to improve their CD ratios. The meeting was attended by Chief Development Officer Vinod Kumar Gaud, District Lead Bank Manager Sumit Agnihotri, Deputy Commissioner Self-Employment Sushma, District Panchayat Raj Officer Avinash Chandra, District Horticulture Officer Raghavendra Singh, district coordinators/branch managers of various banks, and officials from concerned departments.
