Madhya Pradesh Police's 'Distance from Drugs is Necessary 2.0' campaign spreads anti-drug messages across the state through public participation.

Statewide Awareness Campaign Reaches Millions
The Madhya Pradesh Police's 'Distance from Drugs is Necessary 2.0' campaign continued its outreach on the seventh day, disseminating messages of de-addiction to millions of citizens through public participation across the state. Led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and guided by Director General of Police Shri Kailash Makwana, the campaign involves police officers and personnel engaging with the public.
These interactions are taking place in schools, colleges, gram panchayats, industrial units, religious sites, markets, bus stands, and other public places to educate people about the ill effects of drug abuse. The overarching goal is to build a drug-free society. This public awareness initiative is evolving into a widespread public movement to unite society against drug addiction, aiming to create a healthy and safe Madhya Pradesh by involving youth, students, parents, and all sections of society.
Innovative Approaches Enhance Public Engagement
On the seventh day of the campaign, the Indore commissionerate utilized three awareness vehicles, 25 LED screens, and 60 large billboards to broadcast continuous anti-drug messages. Various educational institutions hosted competitions including drawing, slogan writing, rangoli, poetry, essay writing, and open mic sessions. Direct dialogues were held with citizens in police station areas, intersections, slums, and public places to inform them about the severe consequences of drug abuse.
Furthermore, the campaign's reach has been amplified through social media reels, podcasts, and mohalla committee meetings, making it effective on both digital and community levels. In Khandwa district, the police organized awareness programs at 28 different locations, including a joint bike rally to alert citizens against drug use. Public interaction programs were also conducted at schools, hostels, colleges, gram panchayats, bus stands, and significant sites like Omkareshwar.
Khargone police, alongside school competitions, administered online de-addiction pledges to students and teachers. Audio jingles were broadcast through Dial-112 vehicles, and continuous anti-drug messages were displayed on Nagar Nigam's LED screens. Engagement with business organizations, transport unions, journalists, social organizations, and public representatives has successfully connected every segment of society to the campaign. Awareness programs were also held at hospitals, mining areas, and other public venues.
Traditional and Diverse Media Utilized
In Alirajpur district, local tribal culture was integrated into the campaign, with street plays performed in traditional attire and local dialects at weekly markets. In Anuppur district, various schools and colleges hosted painting competitions, awareness rallies, and collective pledge ceremonies. Citizens were also made aware of the ill effects of drug abuse at banks, markets, and other public spaces.
In a unique initiative, the Police Training School, Ujjain, provided information on the consequences of drug abuse to 300 inmates at the Central Jail in Bhairugarh, motivating them towards a crime-free and drug-free life. Painting and essay competitions were organized at RAPTC, Indore, and Govt. Maharani Laxmibai Kanya PG College, where winners were awarded medals and certificates.
Active Participation Across Other Districts
Numerous districts across the state, including Agar-Malwa, Ashoknagar, Umaria, Katni, Vidisha, and Indore Rural, have witnessed extensive awareness programs in schools, gram sabhas, industrial establishments, hostels, and public places. These events have conveyed the message of staying away from drugs and inspiring others to do so, targeting students, parents, youth, women, and rural citizens.
Police officers in each district have adopted innovative strategies tailored to local conditions, making the campaign highly effective. The campaign aims to instill a sense of responsibility and collective action against drug abuse throughout Madhya Pradesh.
