Diljit’s Regal Met Gala Debut

Diljit made headlines worldwide in May when he became the first mainstream Punjabi artist to attend the Met Gala, held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. He turned heads in a regal white sherwani ensemble inspired by the Maharaja of Patiala, designed by Prabal Gurung — the same designer who dressed Alia Bhatt for her own Met Gala appearance.

Representing his Sikh heritage and Punjabi roots, Diljit paired the ivory-and-gold sherwani with a bejewelled turban adorned with a kalgi, a lion-headed kirpan, and a cape embroidered with the map of Punjab and Gurmukhi script.
