Diesel Syndicate Strikes Again on National Highway-46
A cunning diesel syndicate, which preys on commercial vehicles under the cover of night on National Highway-46, has become active once again. Early Sunday morning, unknown thieves broke the locks of three containers parked at a dhaba near Dunai village in the Cant police station area and stole diesel worth thousands of rupees.
Thieves Target Sleeping Truckers
Upon receiving information about the incident, the dhaba operator immediately contacted Dial 112, and a police team arrived at the scene. The truck drivers, victims of the theft, stated they were transporting goods from Patna to Surat and Muzaffarpur to Indore. Due to their long journey, they had stopped at a dhaba near Dunai for the night.
It is reported that while they were asleep, members of the gang, arriving in four-wheel vehicles, broke the locks of the containers' fuel tanks and fled with a substantial amount of diesel. The incident came to light in the morning when the dhaba operator noticed the vehicles.
Modus Operandi of the Diesel Thieves
According to sources, this diesel theft syndicate has been active on the national highway for a considerable time, allegedly stealing diesel worth lakhs of rupees daily. The gang often uses luxury or four-wheel vehicles to approach their targets.
They typically target truck drivers sleeping at dhabas along the highway. Their method involves breaking vehicle locks and siphoning fuel from the tanks.
Police Investigation Underway
Based on the victims' complaints, the police have registered a case. Investigations are underway, including scrutinizing CCTV footage from cameras installed along the highway, to track down this inter-state diesel theft gang and apprehend them.
Authorities believe that the CCTV footage will be instrumental in identifying the thieves and tracing their escape route.
