Bollywood Legend Returns Home After Weeks of Hospitalisation
Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra was discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday morning (November 12, 2025), following a period of medical observation. The 89-year-old star, who has been receiving intermittent hospital care in recent weeks, will now continue his treatment at home under close medical supervision.
Confirming the development, Sunny Deol’s PR representative said in a statement, “Mr. Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home.” The family appealed to the media and public to avoid speculation about his health, adding, “We appreciate everyone’s love, prayers, and good wishes for his continued recovery, good health, and long life. Please respect him because he loves you.”
Doctor Confirms Home-Based Treatment
Dr. Pratit Samdani, the internal medicine specialist at Breach Candy Hospital who was overseeing Dharmendra’s care, confirmed the discharge. “Dharmendra ji was discharged around 7:30 a.m. He will continue his treatment at home as per the family’s decision,” Dr. Samdani said.
An ambulance was later seen leaving the hospital and heading towards Sunny Deol’s residence in Juhu, where Dharmendra is expected to rest. Medical staff will continue to monitor his condition through home visits.
Family Requests Privacy Amid Recovery
Dharmendra’s wife, actor and Member of Parliament Hema Malini, had earlier informed the media on Monday (November 10) that her husband was under continuous medical observation. “He is being monitored and receiving all necessary care. Please pray for his good health,” she said.
Meanwhile, his daughter Esha Deol took to social media urging restraint and responsibility from media outlets. She asked journalists and fans alike not to spread unverified information about her father’s condition, calling for “kindness and respect during this sensitive time.”
Fans and Industry Extend Support
The veteran star’s discharge has brought relief to fans across India and the film fraternity. Well-wishers including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda, and Aamir Khan had previously visited him during his hospital stay, reflecting the deep admiration he continues to command in the industry.
Social media platforms were flooded with messages wishing Dharmendra good health. Admirers fondly referred to him as “the He-Man of Bollywood” — a title he earned for his unmatched charisma and on-screen strength across decades of Indian cinema.
The Deol Legacy Continues
Dharmendra, who turned 89 earlier this year, remains one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated icons. From Sholay and Chupke Chupke to Phool Aur Patthar, his versatility has defined generations of storytelling. His sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol, and daughters Esha and Ahana Deol, have each carried forward the family’s film legacy in their own ways.
As the veteran actor returns home, the family’s message remains clear — gratitude for public affection, and a gentle request for space and privacy as Dharmendra continues his recovery surrounded by those he loves most.
