Devotion Amidst Showers

Guna district witnessed an unparalleled confluence of devotion on the second Monday of the auspicious Shravan month, August 10, 2026. From early morning, amidst gentle drizzles, chants of 'Har-Har Mahadev' and 'Bam-Bam Bhole' echoed through Shiva temples across the city and surrounding areas.

Undeterred by the weather, large crowds of devotees thronged the temples to perform 'Jal Abhishek' (water offering) and special prayers to Lord Shiva. Grand 'Kanwar Yatras' (pilgrimage processions) were organized at numerous locations across the district, alongside public and private religious ceremonies.

Processions and Prayers Mark the Day

A magnificent palanquin procession started from Shivaji Nagar, winding its way through the main city streets, with a significant number of women devotees participating enthusiastically. The Shravan month is considered highly auspicious for worshipping Lord Shiva, a belief that drew throngs of devotees since morning to temples such as Shri Laxminarayan Temple at Jayastambh Chowk, Pashupatinath Mahadev Temple at the old RTO complex, the Mahadev Temple within the district hospital premises, Gopal Mandir in Nyayapura, the Shiva temple in Purani Galla Mandi, and the Hanuman Chowk Temple.

Devotees offered Bilva leaves, dhatura, शमी, akauaa, and white and yellow flowers to Lord Bholenath, praying for happiness and prosperity. Additionally, large numbers of devotees visited the renowned Gader Gufa Temple and Malpur Gufa Temple, located near the city.

Palaki Yatra and Special Shringar

Following tradition, a grand palanquin procession of Lord Neelkanth commenced in the afternoon from the Shri Laxminarayan Temple at Jayastambh Chowk. A large number of devotees joined this procession as it traversed the city's main thoroughfares. The event concluded with a grand 'Maha Aarti' (grand ritual of worship with lamps) and distribution of 'Mahaprasad' (blessed food) within the temple premises.

Meanwhile, at the Pashupatinath Mahadev Temple, an elaborate and attractive special adornment of Lord Shiva took place in the evening, drawing crowds of devotees well into the late hours to witness the spectacle.

Seven-Day Parthiv शिवलिंग Construction Festival Begins

On this auspicious occasion, a seven-day festival of constructing and worshipping Parthiv Lingams (Shiva lingams made of clay) commenced at the Shri Jagannath Mahadev Temple on Jatpura Road. Under the guidance of the temple priest, Chandraprakash Maharaj, a large number of male and female devotees enthusiastically participated in the construction of the Parthiv Lingams.

Following this, a 'Rudra Abhishek' (a ritualistic bathing of the deity with water or milk accompanied by chanting of Vedic mantras) and special prayers were offered to Lord Bholenath amidst Vedic chanting. The constructed Parthiv Lingams were then immersed in the Singhwasa Pond in the evening, in the presence of trust officials, members, and devotees. This religious event is scheduled to continue for the next week.
