Lord Krishna's Divine Plays Narrated at Bhagwat Katha, Devotees Chant 'Jai Shri Krishna'

At the Janaki Kunj temple premises in Tendui village, Mirzapur, the second day of the Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran Katha saw devotees engrossed in listening to the divine plays of Lord Krishna.

The narrator, Pt. Pawan Kumar Maharaj, elaborated on the events of the tenth canto, recounting the narrative leading up to Lord Krishna's avatar. He explained that Lord Krishna is the life-giver to all beings and resides as the Supreme Being in the heart of every creature.

Pt. Pawan Kumar Maharaj stated that the divine plays of Lord Krishna guide human life towards the path of truth, righteousness, and well-being. He emphasized that listening to the Bhagwat Katha with devotion and unwavering faith awakens divine love within individuals. This devotion, he said, dispels negative emotions like anger, attachment, and greed, leading humanity towards the righteous path. He further added that the mere chanting of Lord Krishna's name acts as a boat that ferries one across the ocean of suffering.

Earth's Burden and the Story of Devaki-Vasudeva

During the discourse, the narrator described the dire circumstances of increasing atrocities and unrighteousness on Earth. He narrated how, when sin and unrighteousness reached their zenith, the Earth herself, taking the form of a cow, lamented tearfully and sought refuge with Lord Brahma.

Along with Brahma, all the gods proceeded to the shores of the Ksheer Sagar (Cosmic Ocean) and offered prayers to Lord Vishnu. Responding to the prayers of the gods, Lord Vishnu decided to incarnate as Krishna to alleviate the Earth's burden. He also instructed all the gods to take birth on Earth with their respective divine essences.

Following this, the narrative shifted to the marriage of Vasudeva and Devaki, immediately after which the celestial announcement to Kansa was recounted. The divine voice informed Kansa that Devaki's eighth child would be the cause of his demise. Enraged by this prophecy, Kansa lunged at Devaki with a sword, but Vasudeva calmly intervened and pacified him with his wisdom.

Enthusiasm and Chants of Devotees

As the poignant description of Lord Krishna's birth time began during the Katha, the devotees present in the pandal were overwhelmed with emotion. The entire atmosphere resonated with the joyous chants of 'Jai Shri Krishna'.

The chief patrons, International Saint Bal Yogi Sanjay Maharaj and Amarnath Tiwari-Janaki Devi, participated in the special aarti. A large number of rural devotees from various villages in the region were present, enjoying the Katha.
