Demand for Government Control Over Damoh Medical College

Damoh MLA Jayant Malaiya submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Thursday, strongly advocating for the new medical college under construction in the district to be operated entirely at the government level, rather than through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The MLA described the institution as extremely important for healthcare, medical education, and local employment generation. In his letter to the Chief Minister, Shri Malaiya urged prioritizing the government operation of this medical college.

It is known that approximately ₹355 crore has been sanctioned for this medical college so far. Millions of rupees have been spent on building construction. Additionally, administrative approval has been received for the purchase of furniture, equipment, and biomedical devices. Land measuring 12.14 hectares has also been allocated for the college's operation.

The MLA believes that operating under government control will enable this institution to provide accessible healthcare services to poor and middle-class families, while also opening up opportunities for higher education and employment for local youth.

Road Widening and New Auditorium Demanded

Alongside the medical college, MLA Jayant Malaiya also raised two other crucial issues related to the development of Damoh city with the Chief Minister. He requested the widening of routes from Subhash Colony to Jabalpur Naka and from Sitabawadi to Hata Naka to alleviate the increasing traffic pressure in the city.

Furthermore, the memorandum included a demand for the construction of a modern 'Geeta Bhavan' in the city to promote social and cultural activities.

Highlighting the importance of irrigation projects like Sagdharu, Sitanagar, and Panchmanagar, the MLA stated that the prosperity of farmers directly strengthens the district's economy. He requested the Chief Minister to prioritize the completion of all these public welfare and development-oriented works.
