Damoh: Jayant Malaiya Details ₹47 Crore in Urban-Rural Development Projects

Malaiya Presents Comprehensive Development Report

Damoh | August 27, 2026 Jayant Malaiya, MLA of Damoh and former minister, presented a detailed account of completed and approved development works in the assembly constituency during a press conference at his residence on Wednesday.

He provided information on development projects worth crores of rupees in urban and rural areas, executed through various government departments. Malaiya claimed that development in the region is continuously gaining momentum and expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning the upcoming municipal elections.

The event was attended by several senior party officials and workers, including BJP District President Shyam Shivhare, State Backward Class Commission Chairman Ramkrishna Kusmaria, District General Secretary Mahesh Patel, former district presidents Vidyasagar Pandey and Hemant Chhabra, Pritam Singh Lodhi, senior leaders Akhilesh Hajari and Raman Khatri, District Vice President Manish Tiwari, corporator Kapil Soni, Women's Front District President Mrs. Varsha Raikwar, and District Media In-charge Prince Jain.

BJP Confident of Municipal Election Victory

During the press conference, Jayant Malaiya stated that the upcoming municipal elections will be decided by public vote and the BJP will enter the fray with full strength. He expressed his belief that the BJP will win the elections and form the government in the municipality.

Responding to this, BJP District President Shyam Shivhare said that development works have consistently gained speed under the BJP government's leadership. He praised MLA Malaiya's efforts, citing works in the fields of roads, drinking water, health, education, and infrastructure as proof.

Shivhare added that BJP workers will go to the public with full strength and unity in the upcoming municipal elections, and with their blessings, the BJP government will be formed in the municipality, giving new momentum to Damoh's development.

Nearly ₹10 Crore in Urban Development Projects

MLA Malaiya highlighted works undertaken in the urban area under the Chief Minister's Infrastructure Fund. He stated that ₹4.76 crore was spent on 22 projects in 2024-25 and ₹4.99 crore on 26 projects in 2025-26. Thus, a total of approximately ₹9.76 crore was spent on 48 projects over these two years.

He also informed that approximately ₹8.85 crore has been sanctioned for 13 projects in the urban area for 2026-27. Through MLA funds, approximately ₹2.76 crore has been spent on 129 projects in the urban area over the last three years.

Crores in Development Projects for Rural Areas

In addition to urban areas, Malaiya presented the details of development works carried out in rural areas. Under the Chief Minister's Infrastructure Fund, a total of approximately ₹12.74 crore was spent on 109 projects in rural areas during 2024-25 and 2025-26.

For 2026-27, approximately ₹6.37 crore has been sanctioned for 35 projects. Through MLA funds, about ₹3.09 crore has been spent on 159 projects in rural areas over the past three years. In total, development works worth crores of rupees have been carried out in both urban and rural areas.

Special Focus on Roads, Drinking Water, and Sewer Lines

Jayant Malaiya emphasized the beautification of major roads and intersections in the city. He also provided information on the beautification of three ponds under the Amrit 2.0 scheme.

The implementation of the second rising water line and sewer line project to ensure 24-hour drinking water supply was also mentioned. Additionally, 120 lights and 7 high-mast lights have been installed at seven intersections on the Damoh bypass, strengthening the area's lighting system.

Expansion of Health Facilities

Significant work in the health sector was also detailed. Two primary health centers and five sub-health centers have been inaugurated. The inauguration of a 50-bed critical care health block center has also been completed.

Malaiya reiterated his commitment to upgrading the Damoh District Hospital from a 300-bed to a 600-bed facility.

Sanction for 46 New Anganwadi Buildings

Under the Women and Child Development Department, approval has been granted for 46 new Anganwadi buildings over the past two years, with a total estimated cost of approximately ₹5.15 crore. This step will be crucial in promoting nutrition and early education for children in rural and urban areas.

Sanction for 75 Roads in the Assembly Constituency

Particular attention has been given to road construction in the Damoh assembly constituency. A total of 75 roads have been approved through various schemes.

These include 42 roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, 19 roads under the Mukhyamantri Majra Tola Sadak Yojana, 5 roads by the Public Works Department, and 9 roads under the fourth phase of the Chief Minister's Infrastructure. The construction of these roads will improve the region's connectivity and facilitate people's commute.

Development to Continue Unabated

MLA Jayant Malaiya concluded by reiterating that development works are continuously gaining momentum in the urban and rural areas of the Damoh assembly constituency. While sharing information on works carried out and upcoming plans through various departments during the press conference, he stated that this development process will continue in the future.
