Cleanliness Drive at Health Institutions
Damoh | October 4, 2026
Under the nationwide 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign, a special cleaning program was organized at various health institutions in the Damoh district, including the Chief Medical and Health Officer's office complex. Departmental officers and employees actively participated in this campaign, contributing their labor to clean every corner of the office premises.
Collective Responsibility for a Clean Environment
All participants pledged to maintain this cleanliness in the future. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rakesh Rai addressed the gathered staff, emphasizing that creating a clean environment is everyone's collective responsibility. He stressed the importance of continuous, active efforts by each individual to keep their workplace and surrounding areas clean.
Dr. Rai clarified that every small step taken towards cleanliness significantly contributes to building a healthy society. This is essential not only for our personal health but also for the welfare of the entire community.
He further explained that a clean environment plays a crucial role in preventing the spread of infectious diseases, thereby improving public health. This initiative demonstrates the health department's commitment beyond treating illnesses, actively promoting preventive measures and healthy lifestyles.
Healthy Lifestyle: Renouncing Addictive Substances
District Health Officer Dr. Rita Chatterjee highlighted the deep interconnections between cleanliness and health. She underscored that external cleanliness alone is insufficient; adopting a healthy lifestyle is also paramount. Dr. Chatterjee urged everyone present to refrain from consuming harmful addictive substances like paan, bidis, gutkha, and tobacco.
She stated that these substances severely damage an individual's physical health and negatively impact their mental well-being. Abstaining from addictive substances and incorporating positive habits into daily life is a crucial part of the cleanliness campaign.
Dr. Chatterjee described this as a holistic approach, extending from personal hygiene to social and environmental cleanliness. She also emphasized the importance of adopting healthy habits such as exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep, which not only prevent illnesses but also improve one's quality of life.
Commitment to Cleanliness and Healthy Practices
The program concluded with all attendees reiterating their commitment to cleanliness and deciding to make it an integral part of their work culture. Numerous health department officials and employees were present during this special cleaning program, collectively contributing to this noble cause.
