A dispute that arose during deity immersion at Damoh's Futera Talab on October 22, 2026, concluded amicably on Thursday. The matter was settled through mutual understanding between the Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Rajendra Singh Lodhi and members of the Railway Station Durga Utsav Committee, sending a strong message of social harmony in the region.

Root of the Conflict and Escalation

The conflict originated over the removal of barricades erected at the deity idol immersion site. Subsequently, women from the committee accused the CMO of caste-based discrimination and demanded a public apology. The situation intensified when CMO Rajendra Singh Lodhi, late Wednesday night, addressed the issue via Facebook Live, hinting at potential legal action.

Resolution and Apology

On Thursday afternoon, committee member Satish Tiwari and CMO Rajendra Singh Lodhi jointly addressed the media to announce the resolution. Satish Tiwari, expressing regret on behalf of the committee, stated that the incident, fueled by emotion, was indeed reprehensible. He also acknowledged that a woman member of the committee had inadvertently used caste-indicative words, for which he publicly apologized.

CMO's Stance and Future Cooperation

CMO Rajendra Singh Lodhi clarified that the administration's primary objective has always been to maintain social harmony and fraternity in the area. He confirmed that both parties had successfully resolved the dispute through mutual consensus. Following this reconciliation, both sides pledged to collaborate in the future and uphold peace, bringing an end to the unnecessary discussions and tension spreading in the city.
