Damoh: Cruelty in Cattle Transport Leads to Two Deaths, VHP-Bajrang Dal Demand FIR

Cattle Transported Cruelly, Two Die

A serious incident of alleged cruel transportation of cattle by a municipal vehicle has come to light in the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have alleged that two out of eight bulls being transported from Damoh to Tendukheda Gaushala died, while others were found injured.

These organizations have demanded the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the vehicle driver, his associate, and the concerned officials who issued the orders for this incident. According to the office bearers of the organizations, this incident occurred on August 18, 2026. Eight bulls were being transported from Damoh to Tendukheda Gaushala in a vehicle with registration number MP-34 A-0526 belonging to the Damoh Municipality.

It is alleged that the trolley used for transportation was completely unsuitable for such animal transport, with the eight bulls crammed inside. The unbearable condition of the cattle in the inadequate trolley became apparent when the trolley stopped near Tendukheda, where local villagers witnessed their pitiable state.

Deaths and Injuries Highlight Cruelty

By the time villagers discovered the situation, two bulls were found dead, and the remaining cattle were severely injured. Some cattle bore visible wounds and were bleeding. Following this grim discovery, villagers and Bajrang Dal activists immediately attempted to file a complaint at the Tendukheda police station.

Police Inaction Sparks Protest

Despite efforts to register a complaint, villagers and activists numbering in the hundreds remained at the police station for two days, but no FIR was filed. The activists were reportedly only assured of action. Consequently, on June 20, 2026, activists and villagers from the Tendukheda block approached the Additional Superintendent of Police office in Damoh and submitted a detailed complaint.

At the SP office, the Superintendent of Police assured that action would be taken once the post-mortem reports were received. The VHP and Bajrang Dal are demanding a thorough investigation not only into the actions of the vehicle driver, Shaikh Javed, and his associate, Anil Valmiki, but also into the role of the responsible officials who ordered the transport of cattle in such an unsuitable vehicle.

Call for Action and Warning of Agitation

The organizations have warned that if swift action is not taken against the culprits and responsible officials in this case, the VHP and Bajrang Dal will be compelled to take to the streets and agitate. They stated that the entire responsibility for any such potential protest would lie with the government and administration.

During the submission of the memorandum, several key members were present, including VHP District President Ajay Khatri, District Secretary Shambhu Vishwakarma, District Vice President Ram Mishra, Bablu Rai, Rajesh Pateriya, District Co-ordinator Ajay Chaurasia, Tendukheda Block Coordinator Teji Thakur, Omesh Kartolia, Siddharth Modi, Aditya Yadav, Monu Vidit, Deepak Patel, along with a large number of activists and villagers.
