Cyber Cell Recovers ₹12,000 for Victim of Online Gold Scam

In a demonstration of prompt action against cybercriminals, the Ahraura Police in the Mirzapur district have successfully recovered ₹12,000 for a victim who was defrauded in an online scam. The incident involved a fraudulent scheme where victims were enticed with the promise of gold and silver jewelry delivered online.

The victim, Hiralal, son of Sulender, a resident of Baradih, reported the cyber fraud to the Ahraura police station on July 1, 2026. He stated that fraudsters lured him with attractive photos and videos of gold and silver items, convincing him to transfer ₹12,000 from his account. When Hiralal realized he had been cheated and demanded his money back, the perpetrators began making excuses and refused to return the funds.

Swift Cyber Cell Action Leads to Fund Recovery

Following the victim's complaint filed on the online cyber portal, the Cyber Cell team of Ahraura Police Station sprang into action. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Mirzapur, Aparna Rajat Kaushik, and the leadership of the Superintendent and Circle Officer Operations, the cyber cell team initiated an investigation into the case.

Utilizing the MRM portal, the team successfully investigated the fraud and managed to recover the entire ₹12,000, returning it to the victim's bank account. This swift recovery highlights the effectiveness of the police's cybercrime investigation unit.

Victim Applauds Police Action and Receives Cyber Safety Advice

Overjoyed by the recovery of his money, the applicant, Hiralal, visited the police station to express his profound gratitude and praise for the senior officials of the Mirzapur Police and the Ahraura Police Station Cyber Cell team. He conveyed his heartfelt thanks for their diligent efforts.

During this interaction, the victim was also educated on cyber awareness as part of an ongoing campaign. He was advised on methods to protect himself from future online scams and encouraged to spread awareness about cyber fraud among his acquaintances and the wider community. The commendable operation involved Sub-Inspector Ajay Mishra, Station House Officer Ahraura, Chief Constable Narendra Singh, Woman Constable Mahima Upadhyay, and Recruit Constable Ankit Awasthi of the Ahraura Police Station Cyber Cell team.
