In a new interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, the Al-Nassr forward made it clear he doesn’t buy into comparisons that place Messi above him.
When Morgan asked, “People say Messi is better than you — what do you think?” Ronaldo replied bluntly:
“Messi better than me? I don’t agree with that opinion. I don’t want to be humble.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s unfiltered confidence contrasts sharply with Messi’s trademark modesty. The Argentine, when asked about his long-standing rivalry, has often deflected praise, calling Ronaldo “a phenomenal player” and focusing on mutual respect rather than competition.
‘I Became a Billionaire Years Ago’
Ronaldo also addressed speculation about his financial milestones during the same episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored.
Asked about reports that he had “recently become the first billionaire athlete,” the 40-year-old corrected the claim with characteristic swagger:
“That’s not true — I became a billionaire many years ago.”
This marks the second time Ronaldo has appeared on Morgan’s show. Their previous 2022 interview made headlines worldwide after Ronaldo’s scathing remarks about Manchester United, a controversy that effectively ended his second spell at the Premier League club.
